Features

  • 1. Japan Sewage Works Agency (JS) is a corporation established by local governments' heads and academic experts as founders and with the approval of the Minister of Construction

  • 2. JS receives investment and financial support from local governments and has a board of trustees with most members representing local governments as a voting body (a so-called "local joint corporation")

  • 3. The Japanese government shall provide financial assistance and human and technical support and supervise JS through budgets, business plans, and the approval of the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism for the appointment of officers so that JS achieves the national policy objective of promoting sewerage development

  • 4. JS' primary business is to act for the construction of municipal wastewater treatment plants based on the commission of local governments.
