Technical Evaluation Committee

The rapid advance in wastewater technology, including recent R&D progress and expanding technology collaboration with other countries, requires the appropriate implementation of new technology and technical evaluation systems conducted by a fair organization. JS has operated "The Technical Evaluation Committee" as a JS president's advisory organization to handle such requirements since 1974.

Academics and national or local government chiefs or staff charged with wastewater management organize the committee, and expert committees for each field have been established under the technical committee's organization.

The Technical Evaluation Committee studies and discusses "new technologies relating to wastewater, their practical application, and significant issues about sewerage research, investigation, and tests."

The Technical Evaluation Committee's primary role is to evaluate new technology. The committee systematically evaluates each scoped technology for its features and performance and discusses the noted issues about the design and O&M.

The figure is a flowchart of the technical evaluation. Evaluation results, for which the JS president consults committees, are widely used in Japan. The Technical Evaluation Committee sometimes sets up an expert committee as required for a detailed study
