Our Approach to R&D
The Virtuous Cycle of Technology
For half a century since its establishment in 1972, Research and Development has been a core activity of the Japan Sewage Works Agency. Through the development, evaluation, and practical application of technologies such as wastewater and sludge treatment, corrosion prevention for concrete structures, and their use in commissioned projects, we have contributed to advancing Japan’s sewerage sector. The greatest strength of JS’s technology development lies in its “Virtuous Cycle of Technology”: introducing and using newly developed technologies in commissioned projects, then striving to expand their adoption through post-implementation evaluations and standardization, which, in turn, leads to further technological development.
