International Standards Development Support

JS supports international standards development by request from the Japanese government and private companies. The achievement from the supporting activities for the international standards facilitates promoting wastewater projects.
JS has joined the following Technical Committees (TC)

  • TC275:Sludge recovery, recycling, treatment, and disposal: JS is an administrator of the national mirror committee

  • TC224:Service activities relating to drinking water supply, wastewater, and stormwater systems: JS is a member of the national mirror committee

  • TC282:Water reuse: JS is a member of the national mirror committee

About ISO/TC275

Background

In July 2012, AFNOR, a French national organization for standardization, proposed the establishment of TC for sludge treatment. Later, TC 275 for Sludge recovery, recycling, treatment, and disposal started in February 2013. Japan has acted as a p-member since its starting-up.
As of November 2022, 19 P-member and 19 O-member countries have participated in TC 275.

  • P-Member(Participating member):Vote on all draft standards in the committees you participate in

  • O-Member(Observing member):Participate in committees and have a right to receive documents

National mirror committee

In July 2013, the Japan Industrial Standards Committee (JISC) approved JS and Japan Sewage Treatment Plant Constructors Association (JSCA) as an administrator of the national Mirror Committee of TC 275. The first plenary meeting was held in October 2013, and then, the committee has had nine meetings until now.
